The Digg Gang Effect Surges Into Twitter and Mahalo

You realise that all you need to do to get tons of diggs is make friends with other diggers by digging their under dugg posts? The smart ones would go ahead and digg your spammy blog posts back. Back in the no nofollow days... this was crucial for google love. Now, not so much.

While times have changed, the mob / gang / clan power concept is more effective than ever now. This is totally evident in social media marketing like Twitter and Mahalo. Jason Calacanis, the web genius gets a new user to his mahalo.com ever few minutes. HOW? He treats the people in Twitter very well.

He engages, respects, supports (never spams (which most ad agencies still dont get!)) and THEN incentivizes to come over to mahalo. (Jason recently offered M$5 to join and ask a question) He has a loyal following. You follow him. HE will be YOUR follower... notice that his following and follower numbers are almost identical? http://twitter.com/jasoncalacanis

Put in your hard time. Deliver value to your virtual community. They will support you when you need them. Heck, that's just good karma.
